December Staff Meeting

1.  15-16 Scheduling 
  • We will be combining Business and a Mathemtics teacher to pick-up the sections in the PLTW/Tech Education Position.
  • We will be posting for a HS History position in the spring of 2015. 
  • Art project will possibly start this spring.  We will be adding the choir and custodial room to the art area at this time.  The project will need to completed by July 1st, 2016.

2.  End of the 1st Semester
  • Friday, January 16th
  • No school or students on Monday, January 19th and more information to follow for the staff development. 
3.  ACT Testing for 11th Grade
  • We're looking at an off-site for our 11th graders on March 3rd/4th. (St. John's School)  If this does go well, we may use the building for AP Testing when we have big groups.
4.  Any problems with the communication for Remind 101?  Two-hour delay?

Testing

Jennifer and the guidance department has completed the fall testing.  We will not have any testing until spring with ACT Aspire (Freshman/Sophomores) and ACT Test (Juniors).

Educator Effectiveness

Please don't be alarm as you will Jennifer and I in your classroom more in the month of November/December.  We would like to finish Round 1 of all staff walk-throughs before Christmas. Keep-up the great work in the classrooms.

1.  2nd Semester Final Schedule Preview:  Please review to let us know about unforeseen conflicts.

  • Open Campus between periods and lunch.
  • The reason for the change in hours due to shared staff.
  • The schedule will accommodate students with breaks for down time and study.

2.  Student Handbook:  Keep with the student handbook rules as we know it does get hard at this time of year.  Video piece...

  • Grades for Ineligibility students are due on Monday, June 2nd @ 5:00
  • Supervision for students during class breaks.
  • Passes in the halls for students.  The bathrooms have been a lot better.

3.  Senior Timeline
  • Finals will be May 19th (Periods 1-5) and May 20th (6-10)
  • Graduation Practice on Wednesday, May 21st @ 8:30.  Please make sure all information is turned into Jan. (Fees/Failing Senior Grades/Incompletes/Any other additional items need collected.)
  • Senior Grades are due Wednesday, May 21st @ 8:00 am.  Please send an e-mail to Jan on any seniors failing.

1.  Matt Antoine Recognition:  Friday, April 11th @ 2:15.  We will host all schools in our district for the recognition.

  • High School Students will sit on the south-east side of the gym. (Locker room side)
  • Band will set-up on the far south-east side.
  • Bluffview students will be sitting on the north-east side of the gym.
  • BAK students will be sitting on the gym floor.
  • Band will play the Olympic Theme song
  • Introduction by Ron Sedgwick
  • Speech given by Matt Antoine:  Discussing the work involved to be an Olympian and just the overall experience of the Olympics.
  • Finish with the National Anthem
  • Pictures will be taken with Matt Antoine for grades Pre-K-4.  The high school students will be dismissed around 2:45-2:55.   We will have 10th hour on Friday.

1.  ACT Explore/Plan Testing
  • Wednesday, March 12th from 8:00-10:30
    • Freshman/Sophomores Plan and Explore
    • Junior/Senior Gym Activities
    • We will not have 1st hour due to the length of testing extending beyond the 2 hour delay.
      • This is due to shared staff with Bluff View.
    • All students will report to first hour for attendance and then released to either testing or gym activities.
2.  Academic Eligibility - Students were ruled ineligible on Monday 3/9.  Term 3 grades are due 5:00pm on Friday, March 28th.

3.  AP Schedule for May.  Day Trips in April (Marketing- April 16th and Poli-Science- March 19th).  ACT test for all juniors is Saturday, April 12th.  Please let Jen Gallagher know if you are interested in proctoring Saturday, April 12 from 8am-11:30am.

1.  1st Semester Finals/Mid-Terms
  • Periods 1- 5 on Wednesday, January 22nd
  • Periods 6-10 on Thursday, January 23rd
  • We will follow a regular time schedule.
  • Grades will be due on Friday, January 24th @ 5:00.
2.  14-15 School Calendar
  • A meeting did take place on Friday, January 10th @ Bluffview Middle School with about 5 teaching staff members and the administration.   There will be a couple of drafts for a vote by all staff.  A very few minor changes from the previous two years.
3.  Staff Changes in the office have moved to their positions

  • Interview will be taking place on Sunday, January 19th for the AD Secretary.


4.  Prairie du Chien High School (Future)
  • ACT Test for Juniors (State Test in 2014)
  • Explore/Plan will be in the same format but will take place in the fall.
    • Wednesday, March 12th will be the test date. (Paper/Pencil Test)
  • Educator Effectiveness:  Administration passed all the exams.
    • We will sit-down with the staff who are interested in the EE Pilot at the start of the second semester.
